Chocolate Rough Slice

Ingredients
Base
- 1 cup self-raising flour
- 1 tablespoon cocoa
- 1/3 cup caster sugar
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ cup desiccated coconut
- 110g butter (melted) – NB: MUST MELT!
Topping
- 200g can condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1½ tablespoons butter (melted) – NB: MUST MELT!
- 1 cup desiccated coconut
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (fan-forced).
- Grease or line a slice tin with baking paper.
- In a bowl (medium size is fine) sift the flour and cocoa.
- Add the caster sugar, salt, coconut and butter. Mix to combine.
- Press base mixture into a prepared slice tin.
- Bake the base in the oven for 18-20 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
- Rest in the tray for 5 minutes, before transferring to a wire rack.
- Make the topping by mixing all topping ingredients in a bowl.
- Spread the topping over the warm base and leave on a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
NB: This recipe makes a slice able to be cut into 24 squares. This recipe is a huge hit in our family – very much loved recipe!
