Smoked beef Kofta - 4 Ingredients, super easy and delicious.
Looking for something a little different for plain beef mince, close to the end of the pay cycle with not many options in the cupboard? Give this simple 4 ingredient beef kofta a try.
Ingredients
- 500g Beef Mince
- Half a cup of peanut butter (your preference for smooth or crunchy)
- 2 teaspoons of curry powder
- 1 egg
Method
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
- Form a ball about twice the size of a golf ball
- Push the skewer through the ball and form a kofta shape (this can work easier if your hands are wet)
*if using bamboo or wooden skewers soak them in water for a while first to prevent burning the skewer.
Kamado Set up
- Set up for Indirect, aiming for a dome temp around 149C [300F]
- Add a couple of chunks of your favourite smoke wood, I added lychee wood.
Time and Temp
- Aiming for a dome temperature ~135C [275F]
- Cook until the centre measures 72C [160F]
- Allow around 1hr 30mins (Note that this is extremely variable, depends on the temperature, how thick your kofta is etc. Suggest check them after around 45 mins to see how the kofta is progressing.)
Results
Pretty impressed, my family had them in wraps with fried rice. Added a little mayo and peri peri lemon and garlic sauce, delicious.
At first, I thought fried rice (homemade) was a bit of an odd side with these, but it worked out great. Goes to show you the versatility of mixing things up a little.
