Thermopen Mk4 – How good is it? Let me tell you.
I was always of the impression that a thermometer is a thermometer. Why on earth would someone pay good money for something that can be bought for around $15 from Amazon. That was until I managed to upgrade from my cheap amazon GDealer instant thermometer to the Thermopen Mk4. The differences were immediate.
Now don’t get me wrong there is a place for all price levels for any “thing” in our lives. The real difference is the age-old adage “ You get what you pay for!”
The Thermopen packs in a lot of features, some are immediately visible, some are more subtle but equally important and impressive when compared to the cheaper end of the market.
Some of the key things that immediately stand out.
- Backlit display
- Patented rotating display
- Water-resistant
- Build quality
I love mine for the backlit, rotating display. Makes a big difference when checking your meat. Pair those two features with the super-fast response time and in my mind, that is what makes the Thermopen Mk4 stand out from the pack.
The best advice that I have been given and quite often see is buy the best that your budget allows for.
In summary, if your budget allows for it, you will not be sorry.
