Classic BBQ Rubs

A classic BBQ rub is a blend of spices that is used to add flavor to meat before it is cooked. Here’s a recipe for a classic BBQ rub that can be used on beef or any other type of meat.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup paprika
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons cumin
  • 2 tablespoons black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together all ingredients until well blended.
  2. Rub the blend all over the beef or any other type of meat, covering it completely.
  3. Let the meat sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour, or overnight for best results.
  4. Preheat your grill or smoker to the desired temperature and cook the meat according to your preference.

This classic BBQ rub recipe is a great starting point, but you can adjust it to your taste, you could add or remove ingredients like cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or mustard powder to make it spicier, or you could use smoked paprika to add a smoky flavor.
