First Kamado Joe cook on my "New to Me" Kamado Joe Classic

Well, let’s just say patience is not one of my leading traits. With the small bag of charcoal that came with the Joe, what is one to do?

Definitely, need to see what this Kamado cooking was all about. A maiden voyage was needed. Where to start, what to cook? Do I jump in the deep end and crack into a brisket – hmm the mind boggles. Youtube lets see what can be found there, not as if I haven’t already watched 1 gazillion videos… Breath think, step back, slow down

What’s in the fridge? Ahh, a pack of $5 snags from coles – rightio then sold. Let’s get them on the grill.

The grill, the grill so many options. Deflector in – deflector out – deflector high or low. So many options. Why oh why are there so many options ??

Because the Kamado Joe offers the most versatile cooking setup straight out of the box. These are the sorts of details that I hope to explore and add some details on so that you, the reader can get a first-hand picture of what and why these grills are such a great investment.

My decision process and why I bought a Kamado, and if you are not sure what a Kamado is, check out this post.

Photos to come (hope I got some in all the excitement of the first cook)

Update – No photos…. Too excited to take any 🙂

Perhaps I should have been brave and tried this recipe? Maybe sometime in the future, looks pretty smashing though.

At this stage of my Kamado apprenticeship, I am probably a little more comfortable with this style of cooking. How about you? What is on your cooking bucket list?
