Kamado Smoked Eggs

This little adventure started with a trial run of 3 boiled eggs a week or so ago. The added smoky goodness to the humble boiled egg is amazing and super easy. If you want boiled eggs taken to the next level then please give these Kamado Smoked Eggs a try, I promise you will not be disappointed.

My trial run was 3 hard boiled eggs that I decided to smoke at the last minute. I was cooking a pork shoulder low and slow for some pulled pork so decided to put the eggs on at the same time. The temperature was right around 122C [250F] and had some nice lychee and hickory smoke rolling.

I am REALLY glad I tried smoking eggs on the Kamado, cause they were next level goodness. At first, I was not sure how they would taste or how much smoke that the egg would take on. For the short time the eggs were on the kamado (around 20 minutes) it was sensational. Kamado Smoked Eggs will likely now be on the cards whenever the kamado is lit for a low and slow cook.

Kamado Set Up

Set for indirect, deflectors in the lowest position.

Add some quality smoke wood chunks to your charcoal

Time and Temp

Looking for a stable temp of around 122C [250F]

As the eggs are cooked (hard boiled and peeled) we are only looking for around 20 minutes in the smoke.

Uses

This first batch just didn’t last long enough to have any substantial thought as to what I may use them for, but the first thing that comes to mind was a version of devilled eggs but with a smoky, spicy flavour bomb. Stay tuned for that post. They were AMAZING!

If you want to take your egg salad up a notch on the flavour scale, kamado smoked eggs will certainly impress. One thing that really amazed me, was for the very brief time the smoked eggs were in a bowl under some cling wrap, was the smell that came from the bowl when I removed the cling wrap. WOW, take these to work and you will be sure to turn some heads.
